The Village of Ilion will be reducing the number of crossing guards. After several months of evaluation, and due to the new bus routes associated with the merger; all Crossing Guard positions except Barringer Rd are no longer necessary and will therefore cease as of February 14, 2014. The bus routes were designed to avoid having the children cross major roads and/or intersection, and to the best of our knowledge this has been achieved. The Village will continue to have a crossing guard at Barringer Rd, and will further evaluate that necessity in the spring to determine if better weather will have more children walking.
The Village of Ilion was notified under, Mayor John Stephens's tenure that it had been approved for replacement of the bridge over Steele Creek on West Main Street in the Village. This has been approved for replacement through the NYS Senate New York Works projects. For more information please click here.

The Village Board has been presented concerns from individuals regarding the safety of the sidewalks in the Village, especially for school children. We are reminding homeowners of the following:
Village Code 197.3.2.B.1 It shall be the Duty of every property owner to remove the snow from all sidewalks bordering any portion of property within 24 hrs. of any snow fall in excess of 2 inches and to remove all ice and make said sidewalk safe.
Thanks for your cooperation.

To all Village of Ilion residents;
It has been brought to the Village's attention that during recent windy weather conditions we have been experiencing, that recyclable materials are being blown around various neighborhoods when placed out for collection.
Please remain aware that recyclables are NOT to be placed in plastic bags due to having to remain loose when placed in the collection vehicle.
Recyclables also need to be placed in a container WITH A LID when placed to the curb on your collection night.
Thank you for your cooperation with this issue in keeping Ilion as clean as possible.
