The Ilion Fire Department is a small, combination department that aggressively approaches Fire, EMS and Building Codes while maintaining the three characteristics listed above. As evidenced by the list below, our call volume is in excess of 1600 calls per year, thereby providing us with ample opportunity to demonstrate our education, experience and compassion for residents in need. Our source of funding is taxpayer generated, but close to 1/3 is funded through ambulance recovery and fees from the Codes Department duties. Despite our small size this commitment to excellence, as portrayed by the members of this department, places us large in stature among other departments in New York State and nationwide.
